What is permanent cosmetics?
Permanent cosmetics or micropigmentation is the art of cosmetic tattooing of the natural features of the face to enhance ones own natural features such as eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner, full lip color, or lip shaper, even a beauty mark. It is the implantation of a pigment suspended in a medium into the dermis or under the skin instead of on top as with traditional makeup. Permanent cosmetic micropigmentation can be used to camouflage scars or to repigment areola after breast reconstruction and can even be used to camouflage abnormalities of the skin such as Vitiligo.

How long does it take to do a procedure?
It usually takes approximately 2 hours from the time you arrive.
You will fill out and sign consent forms, then we will discuss color and design, followed by your permanent cosmetic procedure.
Your follow-up appointment will be significantly less time.

Does permanent cosmetics hurt?
You will be pleasantly surprised to learn that although it is not completely painless, it is also not painful. You will only experience little to minor discomfort. Topical anesthetics are used to minimize any discomfort you may have. Most clients are thrilled with their permanent cosmetics and the level of comfort.

What are the different procedures?
Lash enhancement
Lash enhancement is the color applied into the lash line to give the appearance of thicker lashes. You will not see color on the lid when the eyes are closed.
Eyeliner
Eyeliner is color applied so that you can see the line when the eye is closed on top of the lid. Top liner, bottom liner or both may be applied to enhance the eye and make lashes look thicker. Eyeliner creates drama for the eye and can make eyes appear larger, elongate or help to make the eyes look further apart depending on how the liner is applied.
Lip liner
Accentuates the vermilion border of the lip and can help prevent lipstick from “bleeding”.
Full lip color
As we get older our lip color fades. Full lip color enhances the entire lip and shapes it to appear fuller.
Lip shaper
If you have a scar, thin lips or a cleft lip Debra can shape and color your lips with a natural color that will redefine your lips.
Eyebrows
Eyebrows can be applied by either using a soft fill method which is soft solid color throughout, much like that of a penciled look or a hair stroke method in which individual hairs are applied ,with one or more colors, to give a soft natural appearance.
Beauty marks
The beauty mark you wish you had been born with can be added to your facial features.
Areola micropigmentation
Although breast reconstruction can reconstruct the areola, often times the natural color cannot be achieved. Debra can use corrective micropigmentation to make the reconstructed areola match the natural areola.
Scars and Vitiligo
Scars can be diminished with permanent and corrective micropigmentation.
Vitiligo can be treated by using corrective micropigmentation.

How long do permanent cosmetics last?
Everyone’s skin holds pigment differently. Usually permanent cosmetics last 2- 5 years before a touchup is needed. There are other factors such as medication and sun exposure which also contribute to loss of pigment. When you need a touchup it is at a fraction of the cost of the original procedure. Taking care of your permanent makeup with sunscreen will help to retain color. Do not use sunscreen on eyes.

How do I take care of my permanent cosmetics after the procedure?
Keeping the area clean is the first step in avoiding infection. The second is to keep a scab or eschar from forming by keeping the area moistened with the products given in your home care package. Long term care involves wearing of sunscreen products (except on eyes) and avoiding exfoliating skin care products.
